Why I’m running:
I’m running because Saanich councillors should be independent, politically moderate, and have a track record of serving the community.
I’m a civil engineer building a life in Saanich and serving my community.
I’m especially looking forward to being a voice for working people and families: Council needs people at the table who are actively working a full-time job, paying a mortgage at today’s prices, and living the realities of today’s economy.
I’ve also spent years on the boards of the Gorge Tillicum Community Association and the Saanich Heritage Foundation, dealing with Saanich directly. I’m a first-time candidate, but this isn’t my first time getting involved in local politics.
I’m running because I have the community, life, and professional experience to start serving the public on Day One.
My Priorities:
I’m running on a platform —not platitudes — formed through my time working with community organizations and my experience building a life here.
Value for tax dollars: Refocus on core services and delivering visible results. End the cycle of endless plan-writing and consultant spending. Restore fair, consumption-based water billing.
Housing affordability: More homes, reasonable densities, with 10-day permits for family-suitable homes that fit into neighbourhoods. I grew up in a family that relied on rental apartments, and now I’m restoring a 130-year-old heritage home, so I understand the importance of achieving balance between growth and preservation.
Transportation: Proactively make walking, cycling, and transit more reliable, safe, and convenient by ensuring we build a basic network to major destinations such as schools and regional trails.
Trees and the environment: Increase tree canopy coverage as Saanich grows, and properly care for our municipally-owned trees.
Jobs and the local economy: Keep and attract good-paying jobs by protecting employment lands and supporting business growth.
